AEG Facilities once again dominated Pollstar’s 2013 first quarter rankings, accounting for four of the top 10 venues worldwide, with 42% of ticket sales in the Top 10, and 39% in the Top 25, based on concert and show ticket sales. In total, AEG Facilities accounted for more than 1.7 million tickets sold in the first quarter of 2013, accumulated from venues across three continents. Twelve venues owned, operated or affiliated with AEG Facilities were named in the list of the top 50 arenas worldwide for the first quarter of 2013, compiled by the well respected concert and venue industry publication Pollstar magazine.
London’s The O2 tops the list at #1, with more than 446,000 tickets sold in the first quarter of 2013 while Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena ranked #1 in North America and #7 worldwide. The O2 has led the rankings every year since it opened in 2007. The O2 World Hamburg in Germany took the number eight spot and Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia ranking number 10, ranking four AEG Facilities venues in the top ten worldwide.
"Pollstar's first quarter rankings showcase AEG Facilities' position as the industry leader in attracting the world's greatest events," said AEG Facilities President Bob Newman. "As our portfolio of elite venues continues to grow, we look forward to a very successful year."
