Qudos Bank Arena, Australia’s premier entertainment venue located in Sydney’s Olympic Park precinct, is now the official home of the National Basketball League’s Sydney Kings.
Saturday 8th of October will see tip-off at Qudos Bank Arena for the first home game of the Sydney Kings 16/17 campaign - and you’ve NEVER seen the Kings like this before!
In February 2016, AEG Ogden acquired ownership of the Sydney Kings. With AEG Ogden also managing Qudos Bank Arena, it was the logical choice that the Sydney Kings would become an anchor tenant of Qudos Bank Arena.
AEG Ogden Chairman, Mr Harvey Lister, said “Qudos Bank Arena is fully committed to the success of the Sydney Kings, and has invested in enhancements to its building that align with the Sydney Kings now calling the Arena home”.
Steve Hevern, General Manager of Qudos Bank Arena, said “The team here at Qudos Bank Arena are delighted to have the Sydney Kings return to Sydney Olympic Park once again and the prospect of being afforded an integral role in the revival of this iconic sporting franchise. The new scoreboard acquisition not only brings the Arena up to date with what our patrons expect in today’s competitive environment, but is also a testament to how different it will be to attend a Kings game this time around. Containing 12 individual high definition screens with over 300 square meters of total screen surface, it will be a game changer for how sport and entertainment can be viewed in this country. We are genuinely excited about the array of opportunities it represents.”
Sydney Kings management has been working hard and with serious pace in the off season, led by its new Managing Director, Jeff Van Groningen.
“The Sydney Kings have a tremendous history, a legacy of great performances, Championships and eye-catching entertainment. Our new owner, AEG Ogden, and our dynamic management team are focussed on ushering in a new era at the Kings. We are building on the past, while creating an exciting future. It’s a tremendous opportunity to win over the sporting public of Sydney and earn their support. Our new Head Coach Andrew Gaze is an iconic figure in Australian sport and will guide a playing group that features three top-flight American imports, new captain Kevin Lisch, local star Jason Cadee and the return from Europe of Australian elite forward Brad Newley”
The Sydney Kings take on the Brisbane Bullets for their season opener at their new home Qudos Bank Arena, Saturday 8 October. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketek.com
